Kingston Cycling Campaign
WHO:
We are the Kingston Cycling Campaign (KCC), the local group of the London Cycling Campaign. We are an advocacy group promoting cycling and campaigning for improved cycling facilities such as cycle paths, lanes, cycle parking and crossings. We
promote cycling in the borough by:
- liaising with the Council on the provision of local cycling facilities, courses and routes
- organising a varied programme of rides
- providing "Dr Bike" sessions to advise people on the condition and safety of their bikes
- providing local cycling information for members and a means of reporting abandoned bikes and incorrect signs.
WHAT:
We organise more than 20 bike rides each year. Most are leisurely day rides stopping at a pub or cafe for lunch. We also arrange some half day rides and more challenging routes out into the Surrey Hills. Inexperienced riders are encouraged to join us on our leisurely rides and all are rewarded with a slice of bread pudding at the end! We cycle on roads, choosing routes away from traffic where possible and make use of shared paths in parks and towpaths.
RESTRICTIONS:
Our bike rides are suitable for adults, and may be suitable for older children who are confident and sensible riders. Children aged sixteen and under must be accompanied by an adult. Please contact our ride leader in case of doubt.
WHERE:
Our bike rides typically start at 10:30 on selected Sunday mornings at the Market House in Kingston’s Ancient Market, KT1 1JS. See details of our rides at our website
www.kingstoncycling.org.uk
Our monthly campaign meetings happen on the second Tuesday each month at 20:30 at the Wych Elm public house, Elm Road, Kingston KT2 6HT. This is a chance to discuss promoting cycling and discussing proposals for network improvements.
WHEN:
Rides take place on selected Sundays throughout the year and on selected Wednesday evenings in the spring and summer. See CycleKingston's Calendar of Events for dates and times.
HOW MUCH:
All our bike rides are free of charge. You do not need to book. Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings.
